With thousands of articles published annually in infectious disease, it is an almost impossible task to sort through and read everything necessary to stay current. And there's the daunting task to even identify all the key clinical developments that are reported on in the numerous journals.

The physician-editors with Practical Reviews in Infectious Disease sort through dozens of publications, find the most relevant studies, summarize them, and suggest ways to apply this information in practice. Most of the reviews are available to you in convenient audio format — allowing you to download this material to your laptop, MP3 player or almost any portable device.

The traditional format of Practical Reviews allows you instant access to a database of infectious disease issues, CME quizzes, and reviews where you can comment and share ideas with colleagues. Choose whether to receive your issues online, or mailed to you each month on an audio CD with the Audio/Online option.

With the all-new Practical Reviews On-Demand option, you can search for information across more than 30 specialties and create customized monthly issues. You'll be able to earn unlimited CE credits in both infectious disease and subspecialty topics.

Subscribe today and keep learning with Practical Reviews!

ACCREDITATION

As is commendable by the ACCME criteria, CME is integrated into the process for improving professional practice with educational strategies implemented to remove, overcome or address barrier to physician change. Physicians are unable to consistently integrate new information into their practices because of the ways new medical knowledge is structured and disseminated, and the time it takes to completely scan for new information. Practical Reviews™ selects and translates peer-reviewed literature for practical use, therefore diminishing the barrier of time.

Intended Audience: Infectious disease specialists and others who treat infectious diseases

Special Prerequisites for Participants: There are no prerequisites for participants.

Learning Objectives

This activity is designed to provide the participant with a regular monthly overview and critical analysis of the most current, clinically useful information available in the monthly journal literature covering strategies and advances in infectious diseases. After participating in this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Evaluate where controversy exists, and appraise the evidence and assess advantages and disadvantages of the methods in question.
  • Discuss controversies, advantages and disadvantages of diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Integrate non-conventional principles and practices with conventional ones and determine the best of all available courses of treatment.
  • Apply reviews of the latest basic science findings and predict the impact of these on clinical problems.
