Statement of Need:
As is commendable by the ACCME criteria, CME is integrated into the process for improving professional practice with educational strategies implemented to remove, overcome or address barriers to physician change. Physicians are unable to consistently integrate new information into their practices because of the ways new medical knowledge is structured and disseminated, and the time it takes to completely scan for new information. Practical Reviews publications select and translate peer-reviewed literature for practical use, therefore diminishing the barrier of time.
Intended Audience:
General surgeons and others interested in the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases.
Special Prerequisites for Participants:
There are no prerequisites for participants.
Learning Objective:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will demonstrate the ability to:
- Discuss the basics of surgical physiology and critical care.
- Explain evidence-based general procedures in pediatric, thoracic, gynecologic, urologic surgery.
- Summarize the latest advances in anesthesia for pain management.
- Integrate non-conventional principles and practices with conventional surgical procedures.
- Apply reviews of the latest basic scientific findings and predict the impact of these on clinical procedures.
