Keep Learning... with every issue, or now On-Demand

With thousands of articles published annually in internal medicine, it is an almost impossible task to sort through and read everything necessary to stay current. And there's the daunting task to even identify all the key clinical developments that are reported on in the numerous journals.

The physician-editors with Practical Reviews in Internal Medicine sort through dozens of publications, find the most relevant studies, summarize them, and suggest ways to apply this information in practice. Most of the reviews are available to you in convenient audio format — allowing you to download this material to your laptop, MP3 player or almost any portable device.

The traditional format of Practical Reviews allows you instant access to a database of internal medicine issues, CME quizzes, and reviews where you can comment and share ideas with colleagues. Choose whether to receive your issues online, or mailed to you each month on an audio CD with the Audio/Online option.

With the all-new Practical Reviews On-Demand option, you can search for information across more than 30 specialties and create customized monthly issues. You'll be able to earn unlimited CE credits in both internal medicine and subspecialty topics.

ACCREDITATION

Statement of Need: As is commendable by the ACCME criteria, CME is integrated into the process for improving professional practice with educational strategies implemented to remove, overcome or address barriers to physician change. Physicians are unable to consistently integrate new information into their practices because of the ways new medical knowledge is structured and disseminated, and the time it takes to completely scan for new information. Practical Reviews publications select and translate peer-reviewed literature for practical use, therefore diminishing the barrier of time.

Intended Audience: Internists and others interested in the diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine disorders.

Special Prerequisites for Participants: There are no prerequisites for participants.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Describe recent advances in diagnosis and management in the field of internal medicine.
  • Critically evaluate the scientific literature in internal medicine with respect to study design and interpretation of results.
  • Incorporate new scientific advances into clinical practice as appropriate.
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity.

Accreditation Statement: The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Per Issue for Practical Reviews: The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is also eligible for 5 credit hours in Category 2-B of the Continuing Medical Education Program of the American Osteopathic Association, provided it is completed in its entirety.

Estimated time to complete each issue: 5 hours.

Policy on Faculty and Provider Disclosure: It is the policy of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine that the faculty and provider disclose real or apparent conflicts of interest relating to the topics of this educational activity, and also disclose discussions of unlabeled/unapproved uses of drugs or devices during their presentation(s). Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine OCME has established policies in place that will identify and resolve all conflicts of interest prior to this educational activity. Detailed disclosure will be made in the course handout materials.

To obtain credit, the quiz must be completed and returned for scoring within 24 months of publication date. The participant must score a minimum of 70 percent.
