Silicon photomultipliers are solid state light transducers that replace photomultiplier tubes. They are stable in magnetic fields and have a much more uniform time response that results in improved time-of-flight performance leading to improved sensitivity.

The new pregnant female/dose models are very impressive, but it would be wrong to conclude that they make dose estimates appreciable better since the anatomical and biodistribution variability between individuals have a dominant effect on the actual dose.
