Qanadli Index Correlates With Clinical, Diagnostic Findings in Patients With PE
Background: Pulmonary embolism (PE) is the third most common cause of cardiovascular death worldwide. Untreated PE has a mortality rate of 30%; but this drops to 8% with treatment. The potentially fatal consequence of PE emphasizes the need for rapid accurate diagnostic methods to select the appropriate therapeutic strategy for patients. CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) has become the first-line method for diagnosis, and the CT angiographic pulmonary artery obstructive index (Qanadli index) has been used for risk stratification to determine obstruction severity. Objective: To evaluate the correlation between the Qanadli index with clinical and diagnostic findings ( D -dimer, troponin, and echocardiographic findings) in patients with PE. Design: Retrospective study. Methods: Studied were the records of 102 patients with PE who underwent echocardiography and CTPA at a single tertiary referral center during the 1-year study period. The clinical and diagnostic findings including vital sig
