Triazolam Is Mainstay of Enteral Sedation for Adults


In dentistry, the mainstay of enteral sedation for adult patients is triazolam (Halcion ® ). It is a good choice for healthy patients because its active metabolite alpha-hydroxytriazolam is essentially irrelevant. The recommended initial dose for a 30- to 45-minute procedure is 0.125 mg or 0.25 mg administered approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour before the procedure.
