Midazolam Chocolate Tablet Effective at Taste-Masking Bitter Midazolam


Objective: To evaluate the palatability of a novel midazolam tablet for pediatric patients.  Design/Methods: This study used both an in vitro and in vivo technique. The in vitro portion looked at dissolution profiles of 5 mg of midazolam hydrochloride in chocolate tablets. A glass rod was used to simulate mastication, and tablets were then placed in 300 mL of stimulated saliva that had a pH of 6.8.
