Chronic Pain Management May Require a Specialist


As a surgeon, I generally do not treat many patients with chronic pain. Chronic pain is defined, at least in the new regulations in Virginia, as any pain that is being treated for longer than 90 to 120 days. The recommendation for these patients is that the provider gets a consultation with, advice from, or referral to a chronic pain management specialist.
