Major Bleeding Risk Higher in Older Patients on Antiplatelet Tx


Background: Lifelong antiplatelet therapy is recommended for patients who have had ischemic vascular events. As upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is a serious complication of this therapy, but has a low fatality rate in aspirin trials, measures to prevent bleeding are not widely used.
