Secretin-Enhanced MRI Can Evaluate Causes of Ductal Stenosis


Background: Stenosis of the pancreatic duct can be multifactorial, including benign causes like chronic pancreatitis or malignant causes including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. MRI with magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) is the best method to evaluate for this, and the use of secretin can help distend the duct, allowing better visualization.
